I bought a used car and found in the records that there was once a remote start installed, but there was no documentation about taking it out. But the dealer never told me there was one when i first bought the car, so i dont know now. It is a 2005 Honda Accord EX-L. How can i check the car to find out if there is one currently installed? A: Carfax and such sites are a waste of money and can easilly have nothing about yor car. My car was hit by a tire lost from another vehicle in front of me. You think that is going to show up on CARFAX. Since I do all my mechanical work myself and I jsut recently replaced the motor, pretty sure that wont show up. The car we just bought was clean on CarFax, but before I bought it I noticed that one of the body panels didnt line up quite right, so I took it to a friend of mine that is a body repair guy, he confirmed it had been in a frontal crash. We carFaxed it and nothing showed up. You are buying a car nothing more than several thousand pounds of metal with many many electrical and mechanical parts. Test drive it take it to a independant shop and have them give it a look over. And for christ sakes it a Honda. Find a good Honda mechanic after you buy it and leave it at that I got 2 Civic both with over 200K miles, Never had any problems with them other than a mail relay on one, and a head gasket on the other, both fixed by me for under $100 each. Local Honda mechanic who is also the sponser for my race car would have charged about $400 for the head gasket and around $150 for the relay. WOuld those repairs show up on car fax. NOPE.

I don’t and I wonder why?
A: I see more for sale by owners. I’m sure there are many reasons (car is stolen, illegal modifications, primer paint job, unpainted panels from accidents, high mileage, etc.) that keep hordes of them off of dealership lots. It is usually better to do a private sale, dealers won’t give you what its worth.
Another reason might be because those used Honda’s are out there on the road still being used. I know my Civic will never go to a dealer.

Actually, the Entourage is about 200 lbs lighter then the Odyssey. Plus, the Honda’s engine has 9 less horsepower and 11 less foot pounds of torque. MPG rating aren’t that much different either. 16 city 23 highway for the Hyundai, 17 – 25 for the Honda.
So much for the Honda being “superior”.
The Ody is a great, proven van but the concern I would have would be how much of the warranty is left. If it’s not a “certified” Honda it only has a 5 yr 60,000 mile powertrain (engine and transmission) warranty. Hyundai has 10 yrs 100,000 miles.
A big plus for the Entourage as well is that it’s IIHS top safety pick.
Both are good picks but if they are the same price I would pick new over used.
Q: I just purchased a used Honda 1100 Shadow. The shifter is bent upward just a little. Can I just bend it back?
I don’t know what kind of metal the shift lever is made of, so I’m afraid I might break it.
A: You can re-ask in the MOTORcycle section, but yes you can bend it some. I would take it off to do it so you don’t bend or damage the indexing shaft the shifter is mounted on. If you damage the indexing shaft and you will be taking it to motorcycle shop for repair.

A: My dad has a ‘95 Accord with 280k on it. Runs great. Not a ton of power anymore, it is getting a little bad on blow by, but it still runs pretty dang good. He doesn’t hesitate to take it anywhere!
