Q: Is it possible to fit 3 car seats in the back of a kia optima?
My daughter is 4yrs old and 40 lbs, so she could do a booster, but not heavy enough to be in the front. My son will be 17 months old when the new baby comes in november. I sure hope it’s doable… can’t afford a new car.

A: I don’t think so. I had a hard time squeezing three into the back seat of a dodge stratus with an infant carrier and a booster seat. My 10 year old had about 7 inches of seat left. the only way you will know is to measure or try. Good luck.

Q: Honking 2004 Kia Optima?
Last night my new-to-me 2004 Kia Optima started honking all by itself. It honks anywhere from every 30 seconds to 10 minutes. How can I get it to stop? What is causing it to honk? Will this honking continue or affect the car’s driving ability?

A: You have a short in your horn wiring

Q: Power Steering fluid leak in a 2001 KIA OPTIMA? Costly?
I formerly asked this question regarding my son’s first car, however, I got the make and year wrong..it is a 2001 KIA OPTIMA, NOT a1991 Kia Sonata! So, now what are your new and improved answers regarding the leak in this make and model?

A: Does not matter , they make very good power steering repair fluid now. Buy two or three bottles of power steering leak repair and keep using it till the leak stops .

Q: Where can I buy a front fender for a 2002 kia optima?
theres a dent the size of a football on the front side of the car between the tire and divers side door. Should I buy a new fender or can I just get that fixed, cause mechanics keep telling me both.. Please help !!
so this is a no to going to like a dent doctor right ???

A: a ‘pick and pull’ type junk yard

Q: any good advice on a new car… kia/ honda/ toyota?
Looking for a good reliable car. We are a family of 4 with two kids in carseats. so definatly 4 doors. We plan on getting a car and keeping it for 3-4 years before trading it in. I want something reliable that I know is always going to start. power windows and locks a plus. probably a 2003 or newer. good gas mileage. I am leaning toward a toyota or honda but no clue what style. I also like the kia optima however I am not so sure I want a kia any advise? I am looking to spend about 10,000 and don’t mind used as long as it is still under manufacturer warranty i know kias are till 60,000 miles or 6 years and i believe toyotas are like 100,000 . 10 years.
Had a ford explorer that was my last car and the transmission and transfer case went out I have always owned fords and have lost my faith in them thanks but no fords! also I am looking for good mpg so an suv wont really work in my price range. I think I will have to go with a car and I know the optima is mid size and I looked at toyota and they had a few cars I could get for 10000 with warranty very few though
so just looking more for models then i will check them all out. I could always finance if I wanted to go a little higher I just happen to be getting a settlement and only have 10,000 cash.

A: AVOID THE KIA….SAY NO TO KIA

Get a certified used Camry or Accord from the dealership. They have an extended warranty and an extensive inspection. Usually the warranty is extended to 100,000 miles.

Q: Original speakers VS Pioneer 3-way 250Watt on Kia Optima?
I’m trying to upgrade my speakers on my 2004 Kia Optima and wondering if it’s worth it….
My speakers are working good but, I got brand new Pioneer TS-A6962Rspeakers and haven’t installed yet.
Does anyone know what is original equipment (rear and front speakers) power in Watts? or is it worth to switch them with Pioneer TS-A6962R.
appreciate your advice….

A: The sound quality will probably be slightly better, but it won’t be anything significant because your new speakers will receive the same amount of watts as your old speakers since they are still being pushed by your factory system. If you are looking for better or louder sound, you will need an amplifier to provide your new speakers more watts so they can perform at their full potential.

Q: How hard is it to change oil on a 2008 KIA Optima?
I’ve done it before on American made cars…but these Korean made cars are a little tricky. Not to mention newer cars are a little different. Now with the plastic undercarriage shields. I was just curious and felt like saving a few bucks doing it myself.
Let me add in that…American workers work for Kia Dealerships too…

A: Google it or try eHow.com. Have a manual? It can’t be that hard, just figure your time compared to what it may cost for you to have it done, usually they do other checks for you when changing your oil. Best to you!

Q: Add sound to my car without exhaust mod?
I just got a new Kia optima and I don’t want to void the warranty which came with it. I called the warranty company and asked if installing a cone filter would void it and they said it would.

Is there any other way I could add that nice purr that I used to have in my old Ford Focus which had a custom air intake?

Any suggestions for tinkering around with the air box & filter maybe?

Thanks,
Chris

A: On my warranty, is is worded such, that any aftermarket parts i install must be of equal “quality” of the ones manufactured by the company that produced my car.

Seeing that my car has plastic sway bar connectors, i felt i had lots of room for play there…

I think it also mentioned that the parts had to be installed by an authorized dealer.

Im sure your kia also has economically manufactured parts.

Im not saying it wont, but you shoudl read your warranty contract and call again to ask a more knowledgeable person for a second opiniion.

I couldnt immagion how a muffler, or an intake would void your warranty.

Q: 2006.5 Kia Optima creaking noise?
Just bought this car a couple days ago. I didn’t notice until the next day, but when weight is added or removed from the car (like getting in or out) there is a noticeable creaking noise coming from the rear end of the car. I don’t hear it while driving, only when I or passengers get in and out of the car. The best I can relate it to is when shocks are shot squeaking on and old car. This Optima is only 3yrs old though with 32k miles and the shocks are all very firm. Almost sounds like something needs to be greased. Anyone else experience this with their 2006.5 and newer Optima and if so what was the cause and fix?

A: first i would suggest that you go and do a shock test at any tyre fitment centre . that will determine what the state of th shocks is . maybe check the shock top mountings they can also be worn

Q: Does a 2001 kia optima factory cd-player has the input and output things?
or I need a new indash cd player?

A: If you’re talking about RCA outputs, then I really doubt it. Most factory radios do not come equipped with RCAs, but newer high end cars might have them since they’re coming from the factory with DVD players and such nowadays. Kia’s ia waaaaaaay down on the low end side so there isn’t anything extra on them usually. So if you want to put in a nice stereo (satellite speakers + subs) then you’ll be better off replacing the factory cd player. Just keep in mind that some manufacturers nowadays put part of the car’s “brain” in the stereo. GM does this but I don’t know about Kia so you would do well to call your local dealership and talk to their electrical expert.

Q: 2003 Kia Optima driver’s door will not open from inside or from the outside, can I fix this myself? and how?
This car was purchased brand new and has had a huge number of problems for which it has had to be taken back to the dealership for repairs. The current problems are that the driver’s door cannot be opened at all and I am having to enter and exit through the passenger side door. Is this something I can fix myself? Is it a bad computer chip or something? It also seems to have a problem with overheating. The meter will go into the red, but the car doesn’t seem to start steaming or smoking and hasn’t actually stopped running because of this even though I try not to travel more than 30 minutes at a time for fear that the car will stop. The dealership has addressed this problem 3 times already. Can anyone help?

A: i own a repair shop, and you can probably fix the door part of it your self, but the rest of it needs to be done at the dealer, you need a different dealer the one your dealing with seems to not know what there doing on that car,as for the door the rod that opens the door have came unhooked from the latch or the handle,id say there off at the latch though, but you still have to get the door open to get to them,if i had the problems your having from that one i think i would trade it or get rid of it,usually KIA,s are real good cars, and this one sounds like its been a problem car for a while now,but try a different dealer, some one should be able to figure this one out,i know i could, but I’m not there good luck i hope this helps.

Q: Can someone please tell me does this look like a good car to buy????? Its a 2006 KIA optima?
ok so all 3 of my older brothers have Kia Optimas, they all got them new in 2003 & never ever had issues with them..they run great, look nice & are great cars…now im looking into getting a new”er” car & i really want a KIA Optima bc I know they are good cars, i found this one & its pretty cheap for an 06′ but its bc the milage is so high, but if you look at the carfax the guy that had it took really great care of it & it appears to me that these were highway miles…I heard that having a car with 200,000 highway miles is better then having a car with 20,000 city miles..is this true? SO IS THIS A GOOD DEAL????

click on the carfax & you’ll see the details & how good the guy kept the car up..

A: Kia cars are great commuter cars and have long vehicle lives. This vehicle does have a good maintenance record, but has been driven an extensive amount of miles about 40,000/year (10,000/ year is average). Yes highway miles are better than city, but when you get to 100,000+ the car will need more maintenance and will be prone to needing expensive repairs. It’s possible it might last another 100,000 miles but you need to take into account maintenance cost. View the link below for details.

Q: Need a new car my Kia is falling apart?
Hi
I have a 2003 Kia Optima, I got a loan on it in 2006. I still owe $8,000 on my loan and there is already 108K on it. So far I put over $2500 into this car, fixing the wheels, Routers, Windows, The Door won’t open, Cup holder broke, WindShield wipers are about to go.
So what can I do to get into a better car, My credit is not the best.
Thanks!

A: I’m sorry.. just looked at the blue book on your car and you are in a horrible position. You may be upside down five to six thousand dollars so unless you can afford to have that financed into a new a car loan, you may just have to keep driving it and repairing it as you’re able.

Q: Kia Spectra or Kia Optima?
I should be getting my new car next week. We’ve narrowed it down to two cars. The Kia Spectra and Kia Optima, I really like both of them. This question is more a matter of opinion than anything, but which do you like better? What are some good/bad things about either car? Help me make my decision! Lol
Btw the Spectra is a 2009 and the Optima is an 2008. Thanks!
We’ve also been given the option to purchase a 2009 Nissan Versa. How well does this car compare as well?

A: Kia cars are ok as far as fuel economy and reliability. However, their engines are not as efficient as other manufacturers and they are worse polluters than other small cars.

Maybe to most people it doesn’t matter, but a car that pollutes more and is less efficient doesn’t sound reasonable either.

You may want to consider a similar-sized Nissan Sentra or even a Chevy Cobalt which would come close in size, economy and driveability.

If you’re completely sold on a Kia, however, I’d go with the Optima — a nice handling car for what it is.

Q: 2005 kia optima just had Valves job done oil light comes on when stopped?
bent the valves on my 2005 kia optima lx 2.4l when changing the timing belt ,took it to a shop, they replaced the valves and timing belt resurfaced the head put all back to gather, now the oil light comes on when i am at a stop as long as i am driving it does not come on. It also has to warm up before it even comes on., the shop is telling me that i need to use a stock oil filter never never heard of this?what went wrong on my first new car i love so much

A: I’m glad you love your car, you’d be surprised at how many people don’t.

It sounds like they reassembled something wrong and it’s letting the oil leak out of the system.

You see, your cam, crank, push rods and block all have little holes in them called galleys. All of the little holes need to line up and the oil goes through them from one of the engine to the other (Either front to back or back to front depending on the manufacturer). So what’s happening is so much oil is leaking out your oil pump can’t keep up and you’re starving what ever is ahead of the leak of oil and doing damage.

You need to take it back to the shop and demand they fix it before you get a spun bearing or throw a rod through the side of the block and need a new engine. And yes, lack of oil can do enough damage to make an engine un-rebuildable and you’ll need to buy a new one.

Q: Late 90’s BMW 3 series vs. 5 series?
I heard that the 3-series BMW had more problems in the mid and late 90’s (97-99) and the 5 series had great reviews. I was just wondering if this was true because I’m hoping that I won’t have to spend as much to maintain a 1998 5-series BMW

A: The 98 might be OK but somewhere along the way they started making the sequential 6-speed transmission coupled with a drive by wire computer throttle. That combination causes an objectionable hesitation when you demand sudden acceleration, like getting onto a highway, or left turn in front of oncoming traffic, passing on country roads, etc…

The hesitation is about 2-3 seconds and sometimes can be critical. The dealer can’t do anything about it.

regards,
andrew

Q: Where can I rent a 5 series BMW in chicago, that won’t break my checkbook?

A: luxurymotors.com

try them. they have a lot of BMWs in stock. They have 3 series 5 series, 6 series 7series. But don’t buy a car from them. They have bad records as my friend had told me.

Q: what is the difference between a 5 series bmw and a 7 series bmw?

A: 7-series is BMW’s flagship vehicle. its less of a drivers car and more of a boss car, much like the benz s-class. 7-series are designed more for you to enjoy the luxury of riding in the rear while you have someone drive for you. 7-series also comes with more accesories and options for passengers and a larger engine to accelerate the extra weight.

5-series is smaller mid-size sedan built for family’s. it is more of a drivers car. less rear legroom and smaller engines are the main noticable differences of the 5series and 7series.

Q: Thinking of getting a BMW 5 series as my next company car. Good choice or is there anything better out there?

A: 5 series is good but personally I would go for an Audi of equivalent size….

Q: What is the life expectancy in miles of mercedes E-class, BMW 5 series, honda accord, toyota camry?

A: The only one I can really Vouch for is the Toyota Camry, I have seen them do over 600,000km… (372,822mi) was used as a Taxi.

Any one of the pick will last for a very long time, as long as you look after it, and get a known to be good engine.

Q: I am being offered a 5 series bmw 2L for £800 I drove it and it seems good. had a good look round it and ok?
would you think its worth buying

A: I bought a 7 series for what I thought was cheap and now at the 60 day mark it has been in the shop for 52 days of the 60 and every time it comes out of the shop they say its fixed and same day check engine light comes back on with new codes…Have spent more than what I payed for it and still not fixed… I have cried many days about this…. and have spent my saving since I traded my saturn(which only needed about 600 of work) and need the car for me and my children in short I will never ever ever buy a used bmw from anyone but BMW.

Q: Best audio set-up for a 2003/2004 BMW 5 series.?
I am looking to outfit my 5 series bmw with new head unit, speakers, subs, amps, etc and am interested to hear some opinions as to what the best combo of products might be. I lean completely towards SQ, and want to spend in the 1500-2000 range for everything. Also, i prefer more obscure brands to the JL’s, Sony’s, Kenwoods, etc…your ideas would be much appreciated

A: Well, there is no “best” as it’s all preference as you so state. Go to a pro audio shop and grab a listen. Only you know what you like, nobody can tell you different.

Obscure or not, if it’s not 2006 CEA Compliant it’s crap.

http://spkrbox1.spaces.live.com

Q: Is the ride on a BMW 5 Series smooth? How does it compare to a 7 Series?

A: Wow alot of long useless answers!!

here it is:

5series is smooth, the Sport Package (upgraded susp.) tends to make the ride alittle rougher.

7series very smooth, what do you expect for the $$$$$

best bet…. go drive both of them.. and decide!!

Q: I have a 5 series bmw. parked up for 4 months. I now cannot open the door of the car?
The battery might be flat. The remote will not open the car. The key will not open the car only the boot. What can I do?

A: Depends on what year your 5 series is. If it is ‘96 on (an E39) the battery is in the boot, on the drivers side under the boot mat. Simply jump start the car from there. On earlier 5’s they are under the rear seat or under the bonnet depending on model. Generally rapid jiggling of the door lock with the key will gently ease the lock open. Try the passenger side. If this still does not work, get a spare battery, supply an earth to the car chassis underneath (any bare metal earth, even directly to the engine) and crawl under the front to locate the starter. There is a large bolt on the starter (13mm head) supply a 12v supply to this. (the thick wire from this bolt goes directly to the battery, and you should be able to work the remote to open the car and access the battery direct.

If you get stuck, message me……

good luck!

Q: Does anyone else find the radio/satelite (fin like) radio antenna on the BMW 5 series attractive?
I just like the thing. But that may just be me. Anyone else?

A: Well, it is a definite improvement over the standard antenna. Engineers are specifically designing the fin antenna so that it goes with the lines of the car. I think that most cars would look better without, but the fin is much better than the alternative.

Q: Calling all BMW 5-Series owners? (please help)?
Been hearing all negative type media on how unreliable BMW vehicles are. Are there any actual BMW owners here that could really give me information on reliability history? For example give me reliable history on the 2005 BMW 525i model if you could please. I know they are expensive, but someday I’d love to own one for myself but rather save the trouble if they are not reliable.

Also are they expensive to maintain, parts. How much is a regular oil, filter change run? Insurance cost all the information that could really help me out. Thanks in advance.

The reason why I like these cars is simply because I had a friend come down from Arizona and he had a BMW 5-Series model which was simply an amazing car. The ride is so smooth, beautiful interior, great sound system.

A: BMW is amazing, durable and reliable car.
if any newspaper says that is a unreliable car, then they are asking for trouble unless they can prove that the car is bad.
Any defects during the warranty period is taken care by the dealers.
.But bear in mind that BMW cars have to be properly and regularly maintained.Parts are little expensive but the durability is far beyond other cheap makes.
if you dont attend to minor repairs, problems will be there in the long run.
I own 2 of the BMWs.
520i – E28 – 1984- mannual(still the engine not been overhauled and tip top.)no complaints except the rubber bushings changed.
528i-E28- 1986- auto transmission.(still in tip top condition)
so far I have spent USD4000-6000 on both cars.Thats for the rubber bushings, shocks, brakes and tyres and servicing.
For your information my shock absorbers worked 14 years in my car.

My son owns 525i-2005 model and there is no complaints todate.
BMW cars are luxury and fast cars ,remember that.
You are buying one of the best cars in the world.
Those who cannot afford will give you negative thoughts about BMW cars.

I will be happy if you can afford a BMW soon.
wish you the best.

Q: 1990’s 5 series bmw MPG?
im thinking about getting a 523 bmw 5 series that has an automatic inline 6 cyl,2.5 liter engine.Does anyone have one of these? If so could you tell me if you get decent gas mileage?I know it wouldnt get great mpg but just want to know if its horrible. Also how much does it cost you to fill up? I think the year i want to get is a 96 but im not sure. BTW i looked it up and some sites said it gets 18/25 highway.

A: The 2.5 liter engines were the staple of the BMW line during the 90’s. They are really solid engines, but you have to remember that mpg is dependent on how you drive and type of driving your do. Don’t go by the posted mpg. I always keep track on mpg by the gallons used and miles actually traveled. If you are going by the manufacture specs, you have to remember that they have been recently revised because the mpg was gone on a testing site that wasn’t reflective on the “real world” driving habits.

My question would be why are you looking at this particular years and model? While a 2.5 in the 5 series may look like a good choice, I would consider a newer 2.5 liter 325i. Buying an older 5 series might look like a good deal, I would be very careful on where or who owned the car before you. If you know the owner and it is a single owner, than it would be ok.

Buy the later model with less miles. If you are buying this for the mpg, I would tell you look at a newer, smaller, ligher car.

Based on your questions, you appear to be concerned with costs. If this is a car they you really want and don’t mind the cost of keeping a 10 plus year old car, than you have your answer. If this was me, I would look for a better deal on something less than 5 years old. Trust me, the cost of keeping a BMW on the road for more than 10 years is very costly.

Q: What’s the difference between normal BMW 3 ser, 5 series and M3, M5?
thanks

A: The BMW M3 and M5 are performance versions of those models. Its like Mercedes-Benzs AMG. Its their in house tunning division.

For instance the BMW M5 has a 5.0L V10 in it developing 500 hp, and 384 lb-ft
where as the “normal” 5-series models have more sedate inline-6 cylinder or V8 engines.

as for the M3 the new one has a 4.0L V8 in it (previous M3’s had inline-6’s) developing 414 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque
where as the “normal” 3 series models have inline-6 cylinder engines.

Q: Want to Buy Used 5 Series BMW?
Im fresh out of college and i need to buy my first car ever, I want a 5 series BMW used, looking to pay no more than 10K cash 2000 and up, what are some good deals, examples would be great.Something like this is perfect..need advice, how much is resonable for a 5-series. My neighbor has an M5, my buddy has 645 and 745, my other friend has a 328i, I learned to like these cars..How much does insurance cost.
Ex. http://monterey.craigslist.org/ctd/1349135384.html

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: A good website to buy rims/wheels for my bmw 5 series?
i have a 2008 BMW 528i (e60) . Im looking to buy rims/wheels for a good price, preferably under $150 for each one. Prefered size is 17″.

A: Try tirerack.com Easy site to navigate. You can search in products, wheels, enter BMW. Great pricing, delivery, and customer service.

Q: How can i buy a new Acura TL for a good price?
Does anyone know any good techniques for buying a new car? How can i get it for a good price? Any coupons for Acura?

A: Do your research. Shop around. Check the internet for available incentives. DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Q: what do you think of the new Acura TL?
my dad is going to help me get a new car next year and i really like the new Acura TL. Does anyone here have one and if so, do you like it? I am a Honda girl for life so i would like to stay in the Honda family……

thanks!

A: I love mine. Best car for the money. Has everything, looks, performance, comfort, and loads of features.
Awesome car!

Q: Is it realistically possible for someone with $12,000 debt & a 2000 Toyota Corolla, buy a new 2008 Acura TL.?
Just wondering, my friend is in this predicament and thinks he can afford a brand new Acura TL (they start at $33,000). He is in $12,000 in debt and thinks he can trade in his 2000 corolla (I think he could maybe get $5,000 for it, if that).
He makes around $35,000 – $40,000 a year. Does, in your opinion, this seem possible?

A: Here’s the facts as I see them.

The BASE Acura TL is $33745 according to Edmunds. Who buys a base model luxury car? If you’re going for that type of car doesn’t everyone want the extras like NAV and a fine stereo and the upgraded wheels & tires. Of course they do, I would, right. So now a well equipped TL will run you closer to $38500.

A $5000 trade in value for a 2000 Corolla is a big stretch, even in great shape with low miles that’s a high figure. Both KBB and Edmunds rate it closer to $3500 wholesale value.

So let’s say your buddy gets a great deal and gets his TL for $32000. Add roughly 10% for taxes, fees and additional costs associated with the loan. And let’s say the Acura dealer is still being generous and offers him $4000 for his trade. $35200 minus the $4k is $31200 to borrow.

With a debt of $12000 I’m assuming your friend doesn’t have a 750 credit rating so his interest is going to be closer to 8% and not 5%. That’s works out to a $635 car payment for the next 5 years before he buys insurance or his first tank of gas.

A car payment should be no more that 20% of your TAKE HOME PAY. Tell your friend to do the math. If $35k is his take home pay, then 20% is $580. If $35k is his gross pay, he’s way off.

He’d be over-extending himself big time with a $635 payment for the next 60 months.

Q: does the new Acura TL look almost exactly like the Toyota Camry?
I think they just copied the design. I used to really like TLs but now they justt seem overpriced since they look just like a toyota.

A: I see what your talking about… the roundness but bold front..

But really i dont think so..
I like the new TL much better than the older body…

Q: Need help of leasing new Acura TL?
I’m interested in buying an Acura TL. I’m getting a lease offer for $299 with $3500 downpayment (for 10K miles). Do you think I should
1) buy it?
2) bargain? if so, whats a good price for 15K miles?
3) wait for Acura TL 2009?

Any help appreciated. thanks.

A: never lease when you can buy…unless you like to lose a lot of money..leasing gives you nothing.
Buying gives you good credit (providing you pay the car off in time) good standing at the dealership and a car.
So buy the car, forget the lease.

Q: I just got a new Acura Tl and was wondering what type of sound system to install.?

A: my friends got one and if you want supreme sound go with either a pair of JL 12″ W3’s or one JL W7 used with preferably a JL slash series 1000 watt amp..but crossover’s will work too

Q: New Acura TL compared to old TL?
I guess the new TL came out a few months ago. I still have yet gone to a dealer to test drive the new TL. I have a ‘06 TL…and came upon a new TL at a redlight. Without any revving or looking at each other, we just both took off at the green. We ended up doing this 3 times. The first he won by half a car to 100 km/h (he honks), the next is a tie, and the last I win by half a car lenght (maybe better shifting?)…anyways, has anyone actually done a real comparison with the old and new TL, and not like me goofing around at red lights? As fun as it may be.

A: If you’re talking about pure power performance, here are the numbers I’ve grabbed from Edmunds:

2006 TL: 3.2L, 258 hp, 233 ft-lbs torque
2009 TL: 3.5L, 280 hp, 254 ft-lbs torque

Engine power alone, it seems that the 2009 TL got a nice increase, but you also have to factor in weight.

2006 TL: 3483 lbs
2009 TL: 3708 lbs

Weight/HP Ratio:

2006 TL: 13.5
2009 TL: 13.24

The difference is pretty small, and most likely, your “test” runs came down to driver skill and response. As this was an “unscheduled” run, either one could have hesitated, etc before going so that would be a factor as well.

Bottom line, it seems that both cars perform pretty similarly, disregarding gear ratios or suspension setups.

In any case, drive safe and good luck!

Q: Who has a new Acura TL 2008?
I want a redesigned Acura TL 2008 but need more reviews from owners. Tell me about the car as speed, reliabilty, maitanance, resale value, comfort? Also what is a fair price to pay for a used one with atleast 20,000 miles on it?

Thanks

A: I don’t really own the New TL but I own the 07 TL type S. however my friend just go the New 09 TL the redesign one. man it so beautiful inside and out. although I don’t like the bolt grille but it stand out from it competitor. I drive it when back from Las Vegas and it was really nice, the steering wheel was better and more responsive than the old version. it has a quicker speed, very reliable and comfortable and also has a high resale value. but I still don’t know about the maintenance and the cost. but after my one time experience of driving from Vegas, I felt in love with it, I’m thinking about trading in my 07TL with the new 09 once. go check it out and test it. hope you enjoy it. good luck.

Q: URGENT! Can somebody tell me what is wrong with my new 2009 Acura TL?
I just brought my new Acura TL with the technology package home from the dealer tonight. It drove home fine. When I got home and parked it in the driveway, the car started to have a mind of its own . It started beeping like crazy, all of the warning lights started going on and off, the radio continued to go on and off, the lights flickered, and the navigation screen went on and off. The when I tried to start it (with the push button start) the car would not start, but instead, I heard several clicks. Could somebody tell me what is going on?

A: your computer is not working in your car is all take it back for repairs

Q: Is it just me, or does the new Acura TL remind anyone else of Jabba the Hutt?
For some reason, it seems that Honda wanted to prove that they could build a car even uglier than the current Camry.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jabba_the_Hutt

A: You have a good point especially in that new turd brown color.

Q: What kind of gas should i use for a new ‘08 Acura TL(regular, mid-grade, premium)?
The question says it all.
which gas for an ‘08 acura tl-regular, mid-grade, or premium

A: If I were you I would use premium. Depending on which model you have, the 258 or 286 hp model, using regular wont cause any problems, other than power loss. The 258hp model may run at the max 230hp, and the 286hp may run at max 270hp, since both are compressed at 11.0:1. Since the 3.5L is stroked differently and make quite a bit more low end power, there is less power loss due to use of a lower octance fuel. But using 87 octane gas will not change the vehicle mechanically, or make is less reliable. One other thing is longevity and smoothness over time. My 99 TL has 181k miles, I used regular up until about 90k, and it start becoming noticeable rougher, I switched up, and about 93, it started smoothing out again, and I still love it!

Q: Can I polish out a bad paint spot on new 2007 Acura TL caused by trying to rub out a scratch?
I had small scratch on my hood.

I used rubbing compound to try and remove it. Unfortunately, not thinking “ME”, I used a plastic scrubbing pad, made from plastic, I thought was safe, not so apparently. I now have a dull round spot about 1.5 inches in diameter.

Later I used an old T-Shirt and Polishing compound to attempt to correct my mistake. Actually it did some-what help.

I decided to stop before I did more damage. Wal-Mart has a product (Nu-Coat Scratch Repairer), but first, I am going to the dealer tomorrow to see if they have any ideas.

The car was covered with some sort of poly coat material when I bought it on 31 March 2007. I wonder if it is covered under any sort of warranty.

I guess it’s bad to expect someone else to cover my mistake, but the dealer has already had to paint my trunk due to flaws in the paint. I’m just wondering if I had a good paint job to start with. I certainly didn’t believe I rubbed hard enough to cause my problem.

Thanks

A: 1. If it will scratch your fingernail, it will scratch car paint today. Car paint is not what it was 10 yrs ago, 5 yrs ago, or even last yr. It changes yearly and gets weaker yearly due to EPA rules and regulations.

2. Mistake was using anything but a cloth item. Without seeing it, it is hard to say what damage you did. The dull round spot you mention could either be just a dull spot or could be a spot where you wore the clear coat off the hood. In turn meaning the hood now needs painted.

3. Best to have a detailer or someone who understands waxes and a high speed buffer and let them play with it.

4. No offense, but it sounds like you don’t have a clue bout car finish maintenance. Nu-Coat and anything you buy at the store at Wal Mart, etc is just junk, pure junk. Since its an Acura TL and you spent an easy $30+k on it, I would just take it to a detail shop twice a year for clean up and wax. This way all proper chemicals, items, tools and up to date information will be in the hands of someone who does it for a living. Cars are not the old days type, where some turtle wax out of a can once a year does it, its a chemical science now.

Q: new acura TL sport 3mo old within this time it leaks several times and keep shutting off what to do? help?
it is a lease. dealer first thought i left windows open. it wasn’t until it rain again that they said it was sunroof but now it keep shutting of. we just had few big storms recently. that when it start shutting of did i lease a lemon or what? whar can i do they said some wire burn out some one else told there will be more problems soon with computer and radio.

A: If you take it to service three times for the same reason you can get your money back, Lemon Law. It applies to both lease and purchase. I have a friend who leased a Mercedes for about 3 years. He started to have problems. He took the car in to service 3 times for the same reason. He wrote a letter to Mercedes and told them that the car was a lemon. He got most of the money back that he paid to lease the car. That means he drove the car for 3 years for almost FREE. I have another friend who leased a BMW and she also was paid back.

Q: The new Acura TL’s have a DVD Audio Sound System…where can I buy these types of albums?

A: Try Best buy or Circuit city..

Q: What car is better? The new Acura TL or the Lexus IS 350?

A: If you’re looking at conceptual handling, surely the IS with its rear drive platform is potentially the better car. However, the TL has more equipment, more space, nicer materials, more unique styling and a far, far better nav/voice command system for about the same price. I favor the TL, but I’m way past the boy racer mode of life.

Q: Has anyone bought the new Acura MDX?
Has anyone bought the new Acura MDX. I am interested in getting one which is fully loaded . Am curious about the price

A: I havn’t bought one but I have sold a few. They are awesome. Fully loaded with the Sport and Entertainment pkg you are looking at a price around $49,800 plus dealer installed options. In most markets the price is non negotiable due to its high demand.

Q: how much would it cost to fill up the tank of a new Acura MDX?

A: Well, it has a 21 gallon tank, so you can subtract the gallons you have left and multiply it by your area’s fuel prices. I just filled up my MDX with premium the other day and it was $65.

Q: I am looking at purchasing a new 2006 Acura MDX Touring w/Nav – what is the best price I can get on this?
Purchase NOT lease, new … what is the best pricing with rebates, incentives, etc that I can get on this vehicle. Any options other options to consider? I want to buy one this week but not waste my time getting screwed in negotiations! Just the best price period … anybody know the bottom line?

A: try these sites

www.kbb.com
www.edmunds.com

Q: Which do you think is better for a mom with kids? The Lexus RX350AWD or the new 2007 Acura MDX?
I have norrowed it down to these two models. I’ll be buying mid 2007.

A: The RX350 has 270hp and gets 24mpg hwy.
The MDX has 300hp and gets 22mpg hwy.

The MDX has a third row seat, RX does not.
The MDX has about 40% more passenger volume.
The RX has slightly more cargo volume.

The MDX has GPS with real-time traffic (3 months free then montly fees required), RX does not.

The RX is slightly more expensive equipped similarly but can be bought right now at $6-7k discount. You’ll have to pay MSRP for the MDX possibly for the next 2 years.

Q: Is this a good deal? for a 2009 new acura mdx base with msrp of $41800 for $36200 or can i go lower?

A: Invoice in my area is $37,252. Don’t know where you are but it seems like a good buy.

Q: Would you buy a new Acura MDX?
Most likely a 2011 or 2012 model. With the Tech package. And please no pro-American propaganda crap, just advice.
I don’t want the Honda version (Pilot) because it has poor visibility.

A: Absolutely.

300hp & 21MPG… what’s not to like!

Q: What’s a fair price to pay for a new 2007 Acura MDX with tech package?
Sticker price is $44,142

A: MSRP for the 2007 MDX with the Tech package is $43,495, and the invoice price is $39,212. I’d say somewhere between the two, preferably closer to invoice, would be a fair price, but it also depends on where you live, and being that Acura is a luxury marque, it might a little more difficult to haggle the price down.

Q: Does anyone know when the new 2011 Acura mdx is coming out?

A: They will start arriving at dealers in September.

Q: How much is a new 2009 Acura MDX?

A: http://autos.yahoo.com/acura_mdx/
2009 Acura MDX
MSRP:
$40,790 – $48,690
Invoice:
$37,070 – $44,234

The Acura MDX would be a good choice.

Q: Any insight to 2007 acura mdx?
Considering to buy a new Acura MDX, and learned that Acura is going to come with an all new MDX for 2007. Any insights you can share, that will help. Thanks.

A: I have heard the new MDX will come out around November as a 2007 model. Still have yet to find any pictures but rumours are it will have 3.8 liters, close to 300 hp and stay as a 7 seater. It’s not much but maybe enough to consider waiting.

Q: I want to get the new 2007 Acura MDX Tech Package. Does anybody how much this SUV costs? Thank you.?

A: MDX with Technology Package Starting at $43,495

Q: Should I buy a 2001 and newer Tahoe or a 2003 and newer Acura MDX? Will a Tahoe run as long as an Acura? Thx!?
I am in a tizzy over this! I love the Tahoe, but I do not trust that it will outlast my payments (4-5 years). From experience, I know that Hondas are very reliable cars. I feel that a foreign car will be a better investment?

Can a Tahoe or Yukon run for 200000 miles as effortlessly as a Honda? Thx!

A: The Acura is hands down a more reliable, better built higher quality vehicle.

Keeping a Tahoe for 200K miles will be a real exercise in patience, love and expense. That’s not to say the Acura will never break down, of course it will but when they both make it to 200K, the Acura will get there with more grace.

Q: Is an 2002 Acura mdx a good car I’m 24 an looking for a new car an really like the 2002 Acura mdx?
l love the 2002 Acura mdx I know acuras are suppose to be reliable cars

A: In general they are good vehicles. However, This model is prone to have transmission failure. Oddly enough Honda Motor Corp., has a Technical Sevice Bulletin to replace the transmissions on every Honda and Acura vehicle with the H5 automatic transmission except the MDX. If yours goes out, it’s money out of your pocket. On the other hand, I know alot of people with these SUVs and only a few have had any problems with the transmissions.

Q: Acura MDX Brake problems after new Rotors pads?
I recently installed new 4 rotors and brake pads for my Acura MDX. Everything works fine even now. But within a week after installation a screeching noise started to come only if I come to a complete stop or release my vehicle from a complete stop. I checked with the technician and he told it is normal. But I am pretty much sure either something is not right or I am missing some info. I appreciate if someone could clarify.
All 4 new Rotors and all 4 new brake pads was installed.

A: Yeah this is pretty normal give them some time to even out, other case is maybe the brake pads are not proper so you can ask for a replacement or you can buy new ones with warranty over here http://www.theautopartsshop.com/auto+car-usa+parts/acura+mdx+disc-brake-pad.html

Q: My muffler is hitting the new trailer hitch I have just installed on my 2003 Acura MDX. How to fix it?
Acura MDX trailer hitch

A: Look under the car, your muffler should have rubber hanger rings. Try using a smaller rubber ring hangers or bigger which ever meets your need,to achive more space between your muffler and the hitch. That is an easy quick and cheap fix,as these rubber ring hangers are shelf item,at auto zone.

Q: I need to find a 97 Subaru impreza outback sport wagon within the massachussette’s border’s!?
Does anyone know of any trust worthy dealerships that sell, have older subaru’s for sale on the regular, my priority is finding one with a manual transmission.. please.. can anyone help me????

If you know of any used subaru delaerships that have older model’s please let me know.. even if there not primarily subaru dealerships… they need to be within mass tho… please.. thank you soo frickin much

A: NASIOC.com is a huge Subaru form with regional classifieds. I bet you can find something there.

Q: Should I buy a 2009 Subaru impreza?
I’m 18 and am going on my 4th car because I can’t seem to find a reliable one. However, I found a nice 09 impreza for sale with only 10k miles! So my question is, is this a reliable car to buy? It is the 2.5i sedan with a sunroof and 10 speaker, 6 disc cd changer and automatic transmission. I need a reliable car for college but also want fun. So does this car get good gas mileage and does anyone know how the premium stereo is? Thanks for all the help!!

A: It’s a great car but if you are after fuel economy, there are better cars for that. The Impreza is about as reliable as a car gets and the AWD is a good feature too if you get any kind of winter where you live, but because of the full time AWD, they don’t get as good mileage as other small FWD cars. As far as the stereo goes, it’s nothing mind blowing. Pretty much like any other OEM stereo I have had but just changing to a nice aftermarket head unit will wake it up a bit for not much money.

Q: 2002 Subaru Impreza???
Im 17 and im currently in the market for my first car. My neighbor recently put his 2002 Subaru Impreza(not wrx) up for sale for $6k. It has 90,000 miles and no accidents. I test drove it and I was very happy. What do you think overall? and will insurance be too much? Thanks.
Any idea of insurace cost?

A: Far too much money for a car with 90,000 miles and 8 years old. $3500 is more realistic.

Q: Is 170k miles too much for a 1999 Impreza 2.5rs?
I found a 1999 Subaru Impreza 2.5rs for sale and it has 170,000 miles on it. Are those engines/transmissions known to last a long time? I heard that there have been some problems on newer WRX’s.

A: If it’s a good price then no. Most car brands I’d say that’s too many miles; however, Subarus truly last a very long time.

Q: What would be the best way to convince my parents to allow me to sell my car in order to buy a new one?
My parents bought me a car on my birthday in August, and it is a Nissan Sentra. I found a Subaru Impreza for sale that I could afford, but the only way I can afford it is if I sell my current car. I’ve been looking for an Impreza I can afford for months, and I found a perfect one that I could afford.

For my parent’s birthday, I saw thinking about getting them a 32″ LCD TV since they’ve been wanting one for a while, and I was thinking about making them a DVD about the car and stuff that they could watch on the TV.

Any other suggestions? I know they are wanting a 32″ LCD TV, but I’m not sure of how to present the idea of me selling my current car to them. If the DVD thing sounds like a good idea, what should I make the DVD like? I know how to make one on my computer and I have the programs needed to do it, I just can’t think of what to say or show on the DVD to help me convince them.

A: keep the sentra man. Impreza is a huge gas guzzler. your lucky you have parents who buy you expensive stuff like cars.

Q: How much will a dealer negotiate price of a 06 Subaru?
I’m going to college this fall and commuting 60 miles total each day. There is a 06 Subaru Impreza 2.5i on sale for $12,400. I like the car alot for its safety ratings, reliability in any weather conditions, and good mileage. I have saved $2,000 for a down payment. If I were to mention to the dealer that I am spending only $9,000 and I would like to buy his car, that he would even consider that? And that I should mention all the reasons why I like it and how it is a good college commuting car? your input is appreciated!

p.s. I’ve taken it out for a test drive already and there was a good vibe between me and the salesman, my mom was there too and he seemed to like us so are they ever gracious to people that they like? ONE more thing, another salesman that works there was friends with my dad in college.. they dont talk too much anymore but they still keep in touch. Are these all good things that would make the salesman want to take off $3,000 from the $12,000? Im going thies weekend to talk with him
Category
I understand how much it’s worth, $12,450. How much can that be reduced. How much did you negotiate for your car?

A: There is absolutely no way they will come down to 9k. Dealerships are out to make money and like someone else said you would be messing with the salesman’s paycheck. Used cars at a dealership carry margins as high as 50%, where as new cars are generally 3%-5%. That being said dealers love when you want to come and buy a new car and want to trade your 3 year old car in. They will give you peanuts for yours and turn around and sell it for a premium. They win at both ends. They pretend like they are giving you a sweet deal by giving you so much more for your trade in… not so much. They make the bulk of their money on used cars and service work. Like someone else said they might go to $11,700 maybe… I might offer $11,000 and go from there, but if I were you on that car expect to pay at least $11,500. Also depending on what part of the country you live in will make a difference. Colder climates and the northwest tend fetch higher money for the Subaru.

We bought a 2009 Subaru Impreza 2.5i about a year ago brand new. We paid $16,400 for it. Thesdealer in the town we lived in wanted $17,800 and had to transfer the car from another dealer. The dealer was unwilling to negotiate anything with us so we took our business elsewhere. We ended up driving 200 miles to save $1400. Turns out the car we ended up buying was the one that the original dealer was going to purchase for us. Losers lost themselves a customer. Just do your research, look around and be patient and you should find something nice and within your budget. You will love the Subaru! Good luck.

Q: Have you owned a Subaru Impreza?
I’m asking about the base model. Are they good cars, in your experience? Good in the snow and rain?

Were the sales people negotiable on the price?

PLEASE, ONLY RESPOND IF YOU HAVE 1st HAND EXPERIENCE.

Thank you all for your help!

A: i’ve owned a few of them. depends on the year for the power. my first one was the 95 with a 1.6l and AWD. that car had no gutz at all but it was great in the snow. my next one was a 97 and it was really good in the snow too.. even though i twas 2wd.

Sales people are sales people. that wont change much with the car. Around here (NH/VT) Subarus are hard to get deals with from a dealer. but private sale for sure.

you can get one 5000 -10000 in good shape. depends on year and miles. just watch the rear wheel bearings. and exhaust. they get pricing and seem to go 100k – 150k (around here cause of the salt)

Q: Is there such a thing as a 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX with automatic transmission?
I am in need of a new car, after the transmission on my camaro gave away recently. I am looking at a 2005 subaru impreza wrx. I have looked online and at local dealerships, but have only found stick shift ones. I don’t know how to drive stick, and would prefer an automatic. I have a few questions:
1. Do they exist in automatic?
2. Are they good in the snow?
3. If they don’t have them at some local dealers, can the dealers get them from other dealers?
4. Do you know of any for sale around area code 48176?

Thanks

A: The 05 came in auto if you live in the US. And don’t listen to the little street racer bitches about the auto. They are just saying shit to hear them selves talk and don’t realize to most people a car is transportation. Get what you want. My first WRX was an auto and after the reflash, it was faster than the 5 speed and the auto has a much better AWD system too so if you do any snow driving, auto’s are better. One suggestion though. If you can swing a few more bucks, I would look for an 06 rather than an 05. The 2.5ltr engine has a little better peak torque and less lag. And they came with much better brakes too so it might be worth checking out. Maybe check the classifieds on NASIOC.com to see if anyone is selling one.

Q: Price for 1999 Subaru Impreza Sedan L?
The car is sitting at my mechanic who also owns a collision repair shop. The car is in great condition and ive driven it but I’m a little skeptical because its at a friggin repair shop. He does sell cars as there are many for sale at his shop and he advertises online (actually where i found the impreza), but im not sure. All you humble Impreza owners please help me on some info about this car…

Car facts –

Red
Automatic
1, 2in rust spot on rear right quarter panel
125,700 miles

Asking price is $4995 but is negotiable. It drives great and shifts into gear better than my other celica did. I was thinking about going to 4200-4300. Back me up on this please. First time buying a car by myself and i will be taking out a $3000 loan for it. THANKS IN ADVANCE!
Thank you for the comments. I have been looking on craigslist and found a 98 2d impreza with 30k original miles (from what they say) for $6000. after looking at the prices for these things on craigslist it seems $5k for a 99-02 will have between 100k-180k miles on it but kept up very very well.

Also i need to stick to the impreza. it has every feature i need and want in a car. especially the 4wd with great gas mileage.

A: Homeboy, avoid this car like the plague. Your instincts are correct – it’s a friggin’ repair shop. Somebody brought it in because it was broken, and they couldn’t afford the repair, so he lowballed them on the price and fixed it. Now he’s trying to get his money back. Do the math – he’s selling it for $4k. Which means he probably has $3k into it. Which means he probably bought it for like $1k. Don’t be a chump and spend your $4200 wisely. I bought a car for $4200 once, it was a 4×4 with 80k, no rust, no dents, and drove perfectly. You could do a lot better at that price. Look for a one-owner car if possible, or one that has had the same owner for at least 3-5 years. And run a Carfax.

Q: how much would you pay for this car? ‘98 Subaru Impreza sport wagon…?
its got 113000 miles, the rack and pinion steering is going, and it needs front brakes. The interior has two small burn holes on the driver seat and the seam of the driver set is torn otherwise, OK. outside is fine aside from some small dings and scratches. tires are a month old. clutch two years old. frront axle three years old. routine maintanance with records.

I have it for sale, but have been getting the feeling, through reactions, that my price is sky high. I’m curious how you’d price it?

Thanks.
a mechanic told me the repais would range between 700-1500

A: http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/PricingReport.aspx?YearId=1998&Mileage=113000&VehicleClass=UsedCar&ManufacturerId=47&ModelId=270&PriceType=Trade-In&VehicleId=7033&SelectionHistory=7033|31328|04043|0|0|&Condition=Good&QuizConditions=#survey

Take a look at the link.

Q: What is the slowest month for new car dealerships in terms of sales?
Is this the best month to negotiate the best price? What else should I know in order to get the lowest price on a new car (specifically a new 2007 or 2008 Subaru Impreza)?

A: Really a dealer will be happy to negotiate the price any time of the yr. Now, to get the lowest price, fall is a real good time, because the manufacturers will put incentives on the 07 vehicles in order to move them before the 08s..
Good Luck! Enjoy your new vehicle..

Q: Which impreza should I get?
There is two Subaru imprezas in my area for sale at the moment and I need some advice on which is the better of the two.
Impreza #1
96 coupe
127k Miles
6/10 Exterior- Dings, couple of mid-size dents, scratches
Good interior
Runs good
$2000

Impreza #2
93 L (trim)
176k Miles =(
Good exterior
Good interior
$2300

IN OTHER WORDS, would it be better to buy the lower mileage car and fix the exterior or buy the higher mileage car and have an extra 50k miles?

A: This is going to depend on the vehicles’ histories. These are both high mileage cars (I own Subarus and know their reputations; however, “running forever” depends on being properly maintained — for any car). If you’ve got complete and proper documentation of services and required maintenance for the 176,000 mile car, and not for the 127,000 mile one — give the high miler the plus.

Check the Car Fax for both cars. When you think you’ve decided, get a Pre Purchase Inspection from a certified Subaru mechanic. Be sure you’re aware of tires, brakes, belts, hoses, clutch, battery, etc. that might need replacement, before you begin your price negotiations.

I’m assuming these are both 2.2 litres engines. The 1.8 was gone by 1996, at least in the U.S. I believe the 2.0 was also available in some markets. Anyway, this might or might not make a difference to you.

Q: How good is a New Honda Odyssey?
we are thinking about having a 4th baby. Which requires us getting a new car. We really like the Honda Odyssey, can anyone give me any reviews on it.

A: Looks like you have a choice between a 2007 Oddy on clearance, or waiting for the 2008s to arrive. I don’t think there was a remodel on the 2008, so it’s going to be the same more or less like the 2007.

The Oddy is your basic passenger hauling workhorse. You can upgrade all the way up to the touring model w/ the DVD entertainment and GPS nav and leather seats.

I own a 1999 Oddy, an ancestor of the 2008, marking the major remodel as we know it. It’s got almost 220,000 miles on it and still rolling. Only major repair is the infamous transmission, which went out in 2003 around 93,000. It appears Honda has finally figured out the problem and more recent vintages have not had the tranny problem.

The Oddy reminds of my old Civc hatchback on steroids. Despite the wide and long wheelbase, the setup helps make it hug the road more like a sedan than a lunking minivan.

Obviously the competition (Toyota, Nissan, Chevy, Dodge) has caught up to the Oddy in different ways. However, you know what you’re getting w/ the Oddy: Honda reliability.

Q: What is the song used in the New Honda Odyssey Commercial?
What is the song used in the New Honda Odyssey Commercial? It’s like the psycadelic one and the song is like we got the funk or we want the funk…something like that.

A: Check these sites out for info on music in commercials…

http://www.adtunes.com/

http://www.songtitle.info/

Try looking on any of the following sites if you know any of the lyrics….

Q: How much for New 2008 Honda Odyssey EXL?
I am gonna buy 2008 Honda Odyssey EXL w/o DVD and NAVI system. Dearlers around me are offering around 27k. I am thinking just 26,000. Do I need to stick to this price?

A: That’s a great price, but I’d suggest you try to push them for less… vans, trucks and SUV’s aren’t selling like they used to, so I’m sure they have a ton in stock. We bought our ‘07 Odyssey EX-L last June for $28,300, but I made our salesguy throw in $700 worth of accessories (auto dimming mirror (now standard on ‘08), mats, etc.). Try offering $26k, but if they say no and want a higher price, say you want them to throw in a couple accessories (3rd row window shade, cargo net, etc.) Either way, you’re getting a killer deal, but the answer’s no until you ask! Good luck!

Q: I have new Honda Odyssey. Please let me know what oil filter I have to get and where I can buy.?
I am in Sydney, NSW 2010 Australia

A: Hi any parts store will be able to do that for you ,also the honda dealer will be able to but will cost a little more. Here is the crucial thing if you are doing it your self the 2.3 or 2.4 is very hard filter to get to, the 3.oo 3.5 is much easyer, and the correct oil should be used if your car is near new, get advice from your dealer plus its really not worth trying to save a few dollars because of warrantee if something goes wrong.

Q: When does the new Honda Odyssey hit the market…..?
and does anybody know anything about it? I’m sure Honda’s keeping it under wraps, but it’s due for an overhaul so I suspect they will release a new one this September. Any info would be appreciated!

A: The all new one comes out next year as a 2011 model.

Q: What colour should the paper in a new fuel filter for Honda Odyssey be?
I have a 2001 JDM Odyssey with a rather strange shape fuel filter. The book recommends replacement at 40,000km intervals. The dealer suggested it didn’t need replacing unless there was a drop in fuel pressure. I decided to replace it anyway. Have now cut into the used filter and found the paper is very brown. Is this indicative of the filter being dirty?

A: not exactly dirty..but used. wether you have drivien 40 thousand, 100 thousand or 500 miles, it will be colored from use. however, the darker it is the more used it is, take a look at some new oil compared to what comes out as a reference.

if youve never changed your filter in 40k…im surprised it still runs

Q: i’m looking for the new honda odyssey commercial…. i need a copy of it for a business presentation.?
Honda Odyssey commercial…. with the 80’s self

A: I suggest that you go to youtube.com or you can google it

Q: Is 33K on road a good price for brand new 2010 Honda Odyssey E-XL?
We been to a couple of dealers and finally settled on 33K for 2010 Honda Odyessey. E-XL. Leather seats and everything except GPS and DVD Player. 33K includes taxes, number plates, destination charge etc. 30,260 invoice price + 6.25% taxes + destination charge ($710) + $150 (documentation charges) is what we arrived at. What do you think?

A: Sounds like a good deal. You done the right thing by going to different dealerships to see what they price for. You can also look at www. carsdirect.com and look up the true invoice price, and build it to your specifications and get a target price. This is a great site even I use all the time. It is not run by a dealer. Give it a try!

Q: what is the price for a brand new 1999 honda odyssey?
new 1999 honda odyssey minivan

A: $7,999 plus tax, title, license, and doc. fee. No dealers, please.

Q: whats the song on the new honda odyssey commercial?
i really want to know
its the one with the gods it says

A: Barracuda By Heart. If you’re talking about the song that doesn’t have any lyrics in the song.

Q: where can i lease a new honda odyssey or toyota siena with 30,000 miles per year for 36 months.?
i live in Brooklyn NY 11206

A: Any leasing company can do this for you. You will have a higher payment because they will just build in the extra mileage charges. When you are driving that many miles, it may be a better idea to buy the vehicle rather than to lease!

Compare the total costs of each and decide!

Good luck

Q: What is the song in the new Honda Odyssey Commercial?
I greatly appreciate your answers

A: Barracuda..by heart

Q: How much does A Honda Odyssey Cost? (A brand new Honda) (Not USED)?

A: They start at 25k, but can go up to almost 40k

You’re better off with the Mazda5 or Kia Rondo
either of them are cheaper and just as good quality
and they get better gas mileage!
(start less than 20k)

The Mazda5 Touring would be my choice
sunroof, 5-speed, $22k, 25 mpg

Q: Around how much can I save if I buy a Brand New 07 Honda Odyssey EX instead of an 08 model?

A: I had a new 2002 Honda Odyssey that I bought in November 2001, It was rated #1 for the mini vans that year, I traded it in 2005 for a Odyssey EXL in November 2004 and was very disappointed, it was not as good as the 2002there were numerous problems with it and the service has gone way down hill. I traded for a 2008 Sienna XLE the last of September. The fit and finish are fabulous, it is faster that the Odyssey and money for money offered more vehicle, I like the Odyssey but they are no longer rated number 1 the Toyota is. Before you trade check out the Toyota and then make an informed decision

Q: How much (if at all) can I expect to pay below invoice for a new Honda Odyssey?
With today’s high gas prices, it seems like dealerships are struggling trying to sell their vans/suvs/6 cylinder autos. I know the invoice price is $29166 for the Odyssey I am looking for–is it realistic for me to expect much less than that price?
I haven’t found any issue/waiting lists with finding an Odyssey in my local area. In fact, all the local dealers that I checked have an ample supply on hand–even several of the right model/color combinations that would be my first choice. It sounds like the general consensus is that $500 above invoice is the best I can reasonable expect-anybody disagree or have a different experience?

A: at some Honda dealers you will have to get on a waiting list to get a Odyssey.

we bought a Honda Cr-V instead.

drive a Kia Rondo
it’s based on the successful Kia Optima and it’s only fault is a low resale value other than that it’s the best van for the money.

http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/default.aspx?make=Kia&model=Rondo&state=new

Q: when does the new 2009 Mazda 3 Come out in the USA? And will it have any major changes from previous years?
when does the new 2009 Mazda 3 Come out in the USA? And will it have any major changes from previous years?. I want to buy a new Mazda 3, but it would suck if they have a new remodelled one for 2009, and i miss on it.

A: The Mazda 3 will be redesigned for 2009. They will be hitting the dealerships in January 2009. The redesigned Mazda 6 will be released later in the fall this year.

There is going to be a mid year change on the Mazda 3, and they will be hitting the dealerships next month.

My Mazda Rep just came in, and said that the new Mazda 3 will be revolutionary.

Q: Possible to buy a NEW 2007 Mazda 3 next year?
Is it possible to buy a new Mazda 3 (NOT HATCHBACK) in 2010?
I’ve heard some things from people that there aren’t that many new ones left.

A: You cant buy a new 2007 one because they are making 2010 models now. They do sell 2010 models in the sedan and hatchbacks.

Q: What would be the better choice; buying a new Mazda 3 (i-sport) or get one a year older with <20,000 miles?
I ask because the price difference on a Mazda 3 is not that great and I care about mileage more than anything when buying a used car. I also do not want to go more than a year old. Resale value does not concern me.

A: you can figure about $1000 dollars per year depreciation, and about $1000 per 10,000 miles driven. Your used car should cost $ 3000 less and all the warranties are still good. Gas mileage is probably the same.

Q: just bought a brand new 2010 mazda 3 but i think payment are high what do u think?
yeah i just got a brand new mazda 3 for $500 a month is that to much and if so what should i do its still benn less than a week. I really wanted a nissan altima gosh what should i do?

A: Wow. So you went to Mazda and bought a Mazda 3 and the got home and said o crap. Payment are high! WTF! Did you even check the paper work? Or did you just sign on the line and went on your day? Moron! I’m sorry, but you are. And on top of that you wanted a nissan instead? Lol. Classic. Either your rate is through the roof or you opt out for 3 year plan. As for what you can do, you are pretty much stuck with it unless you want to take a loss.

Q: Buying a new mazda 3 i sport automatic from a dealer?
I want to buy a new mazda3 i sport automatic transmission from a dealer.
the true market value of the car is at 17,067.
How much should i be trying to lower to price up to?
How much would be possible?
Thanks!

A: You can do better than TMV. I believe invoice on that car is roughly $16,700 and that is the MOST you should be paying.

If you have Tier 0 or Tier 1 credit (over 720 score) with a good job and a reasonable debt/income ratio, you should also be able to qualify for 0% financing for 60 months, plus $500 customer cash and deferred payments for 90 days.

If you are a current Mazda owner, you should be able to get an additional $500 owner loyalty cash back.

All in all, if you don’t currently own a Mazda, shoot for $16,200 plus 0%, assuming you qualify.
If you do currently own a Mazda, shoot for $15,700 plus 0%, assuming you qualify.

Q: CAn a GM dealership sell me a New Mazda 3?
I love my sales guy at GM, but love the new Mazda 3 ..What are my options?

A: Maybe…is the GM dealership in town part of a “multi-franchise” dealership, that sells a variety of brands, not just Chevy and Buick? We have dealerships here where I live that hold as many as ten ot twelve franchises (Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Toyota, Honda, Chevy, Acura, Dodge, etc.), so there may be ’superdealers’ n your area, as well. Go see your sales guy…can’t hurt to ask.

Q: I just bought a brand new Mazda 3 and i am having some problmes with the auto system anyone have any ideas?
It seems that the volume goes up and down with out anyone pressing any buttons. It turns the bass up and down and on and off and sometimes, the sound does not even reach to the back where the other passangers are. Please anyone with information I would greatly appreciate it.

A: http://www.finishlineperformance.com/store/pages.php?pageid=12

Click on the unstable audio link (it is the first one). Check your vehicle VIN number to the ones listed. Apparently there is a glitch in the head unit of 2008/2008.5 mazda 3’s. You will need to take it back to the dealer so that they can order and replace the defective head unit.

Q: Where can i find new Mazda 3 hatchback headlights?
i just bought a 2007 mazda 3 hatchback and i need a right headlight!

A: Ask your dealer. Or you could get some aftermarket lights for it, (Smoked or something) that would really look awesome. The price you pay at the dealer won’t differ vastly from any secondary market you purchase them from, but at least if you buy them from Mazda you get the warranty guarenteed! I think that is reassuring.
PS. Check, maybe your headlights are under warranty and the dealer you bought it from will order you some more.

Q: Where can I buy a new Mazda 3 ( The recently discontinued model?
I want to pick up a bargain as I figure the dealers will want to clear the old stock at a knock down price.
I should add that I am looking in the UK and would like to trde my old car under the scrappage scheme.

A: Assuming you are in the UK and there is any stock left then just ring around the Mazda dealers starting nearest to you. No one else will have unused Mazdas

Q: What is the best gas to use for a New Mazda 3?
I just got a new 2010 yesterday

A: I have a 2010 Mazda 3 and I just use unleaded. I got the car back in May and It still runs perfect. Plus unleaded gas is cheaper!

Q: i bought a brand new mazda 3, the bass on the stereo drops out occassionally during songs, andy suggestions?
It happens during radio and cd playtime, when i adjust the volume the bass returns. What can I do?

A: If the vehicle is brand new, take it back to the dealer and let them fix/replace the radio for you. That should be covered under warranty.

Q: What will the Cost be for a New Mazda 3?
I am very interested in buying a Mazda3 Automatic with Rear Spoiler and sunroof. What price would you actually pay for this car. I’m looking at the Touring in Massachusetts.
Should the price be around 17,500 for an 08

A: http://www.kbb.com/

That site will give you all sorts of car info and help you buy a car. It’s one of the best sites out there for private buyers.

Personally, I wouldn’t buy a Mazda 3, buuut…

Q: bought a new mazda 3 2011 but it doesn’t come with the remote?
i bought a new mazda 3 2011 yesterday and signed all the contracts and stuff then when the dealer gave me the keys i was surprised that it doesn’t come with the remote to unlock/lock the car.. instead he gave me 2 manual keys which is ridiculous because it’s a new model and it should be standard..
the guy then offered me that they can install that function including with the ignition remote with extra fees, is this a bogus!???..

A: My Mazda 3 2010 didn’t came with a remote. I had to install it with fees from the dealer. But I think it depends on the trim/package you choose too. I took the basic GX model so it’s expected. I guess you just had to see if it came with the trim you took before signing….

Q: Can anyone give me the Australian recommended retail price for a new Mazda 3?

A: www.mazda.com.au

Q: How much does a new Mazda 3 key cost to be cut and programmed at a dealer?

A: Did you try asking the dealership?

Q: About the new Toyota Prius?
Were about to buy a new car, and i was thinking to get the all new Toyota prius. But I live in a mountainous region here in the Philippines where we have almost 50 degrees slopes on our roads. Will the Prius run on our steep roads? Also, any other cars that you guys can recommend? Our budget is from $25,000-30,000
looking for a brand new car around that budget, any car with good fuel consumption is fine

A: It can run on the roads, but it just won’t get as good gas mileage. What kind of car are you looking for?

Q: what are the songs in the new toyota prius commercials?
The commercials are where all the objects are people wavin their arms and stuff

A: The new 2010 Toyota Prius commercial “Harmony” is part of the “Harmony Between Man, Nature and Machine” campaign, developed with their advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi LA. http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/toyota-reveals-third-generation-91263.aspx

the “Solar” commercial – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeOE4Vg7Cq0

Toyota has made the audio MP3 track “Let Your Love Flow” available as their Toyota Tuesday free download at http://www.myspace.com/toyotamusic

(BTW: this question is asked at least twice daily here on Yahoo!Answers. Try using the Search function, and you would’ve gotten this answer already without losing the points to post!)

Q: what’s a reasonable price for a new toyota prius?
Should I buy 2008 toyota prius or 2009 …..what should I watch out for???, are there better hybrids at a more reasonable price? …any advice will do..thanks.

A: The 2008 and 2009 Prius are identical. Both are second-generation Prii, which was first introduced in 2004.

The 2010 Prius will go on sale in mid-2009, and it is the 3rd-generation redesign.

MSRP starts at $22,000 for the base package for the 2009, and it goes up from there, how much depending on the trim package you want. If you can haggle to a couple hundred dollars under MSRP for that particular package, you got a good deal.

The Prius is currently the most inexpensive hybrid, costs slightly less than the Honda Civic Hybrid. Honda is coming out next year with their Prius-lookalike 2010 Insight, which will cost $3000 less than the Prius.

The 2nd-generation Prius is a pretty big car (classified as a Midsize car by the EPA, not a compact), and the battery pack does not take up ANY space in the cabin. And because of that, you can fold down the Prius rear seats and have a continuous flat-bed trunk space 6 feet long. 116hp with sensible performance. Ask someone you know who owns one to show you the car so you can see for yourself. That would be much more informative than the drivel on Yahoo Answers from people who know nothing about the car.

Q: Would you buy the new 2010 Toyota Prius in it’s 3rd generation?
Is this a good car? What are the list of improvements?

A: I will probably never buy a Prius. The energy and chemicals used to produce and manufacture the batteries are more harmful to the environment than a regular gas car. Over the life span of a Prius and say, a Corolla, the Prius has a larger carbon footprint.

Q: where can I buy brand new Toyota Prius 2009? I live in Los Angeles!?
Dealers around where I live don’t have any 09 in their stocks.

A: You might not be able to get one.

Most dealers are getting in the 2010 models now.

If you are dead set on getting an ‘09 they might have to get one from a different Dealership and have it sent to them. They do this buy buying it from them, or trading their cars for it etc.

They usually don’t want you going to the other dealer to get it.

There might not be any left in California. You might have to go out of state to get an ‘09.

Have you looked into getting a 2010?

*****

Using the Toyota website will search around you for Dealers who have the Car with the options you’ve selected.

They don’t ship to a dealer the way you want.

IF they are still making them on the assembly line. You might be able to get the Dealer to order one the way you want if you put a sizeable non-refundable deposit down or pay for it outright.

Dealers buy and own the Cars. Toyota does not just give them to them. So if you build a car, they send it, and you don’t want it. Then the Dealer has to sell that car and that might be hard depending on what options you choose.

So sadly, the G35 guy is wrong.

Q: Can you recommend a good Los Angeles window tinting shop for my brand new Magnetic Gray Toyota Prius?
I’d also like to get an alarm put on her and I know that some places do both. I just want to be sure that both services are top notch. Thanks.

A: You may want to ask a more local Prius owners’ group:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Bay_Area_Prius_fans/
It’s really more CA-wide than just the Bay Area, though.

Other places where you may get some recommendations:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/toyota-prius/
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Prius-2G/
http://www.priusonline.com/

http://www.priuschat.com/

You really want to go with the factory alarm, rather than some aftermarket thing. Some aftermarket alarms do not play nicely with the Prius’ electronics.

All North American NHW20 Prius actually have the alarm (lights blink and horn beeps if a door/hood is opened while armed), just that the alarm is only turned on/accessable in certain option packages (it’s a software thing). Some people have been able to get a dealer tech (who would have the necessary Toyota handheld tester needed to change the software parameter) to turn it on for free, or for just the labor charge, when asked nicely… Otherwise, you may have to get the RS3200 VIP “upgrade” which is basically the additional glass breakage sensor (microphone tuned to the sound of breaking glass, sets off the alarm) plus the tester instructions for turning the alarm on. Call around to different dealers and ask for pricing.

While you’re calling the dealers for the alarm pricing, also ask them who they recommend for window tinting, and their pricing.

Q: Can I get a US Federal income tax credit if I buy a new Toyota Prius now?

A: Unfortunately, no.

The Federal Tax Credit for all Toyota hybrids expired in September 2007, so you will no longer get a tax credit from the IRS for buying the Prius.

There are two hybrid cars out there with the same type of drivetrain as the Prius that still qualifies for Federal tax credits though:

- 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid 2WD, which qualifies for $3000.

- 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid, which qualifies for $2350.

They use the same Power Split Device transmission as the Prius but with bigger engines (you can say they are Priuses on sterioids). So those would be the ones I would consider if you are looking for a nice tax credit to help you buy the car.

Hope this helps.

Q: How much will the new 2010 Toyota Prius go for?

A: They haven’t announced the MSRP for the 2010 Prius yet, but expect it to start a bit above what the 2009 went for. The 2009 started at $22,000.

Q: When does the new Toyota Prius come out?

A: The redesigned 2010 Prius came out some time around May of this year. It switched from the 1.5L gas engine to the 1.8L gas engine and improved fuel economy and power. The 2010 EPA rating is 51 city 48 highway for a combined 50 rating.

The 2010 Prius also has more interior space (leg room, shoulder room) and has a better ride than the previous model. Toyota is still using the Nickel-Metal Hydride battery and we will not see the Lithium ion battery in production vehicle’s for a few years yet.

I hope this information is helpful!

Q: Buying a New Toyota Prius?
I have wanted a Toyota Prius for so long and now I’m actually thinking on buying one. I’m interested in getting a 2009, I like the style better than 2010. I’m interested in buying it from a dealership that has 0% interest for five years. I make about $1,300 a month a have a FICO score of 786. Do you think they would finance me with those numbers? Thanks

A: As usual the other answer you’ve received is from someone that knows zero about Prius. The batteries have a full factory warranty for 8 or 10 years (depends on what state you buy it in) so they don’t need to be replaced anywhere near as often as “every 5 years.” (Toyota’s warranty department would be going broke if that were true.) And they aren’t polluting anyway — Toyota pays a $200 bounty to get old Prius batteries back to ensure they get recycled. And they don’t cost $5k to replace; they’re down to $3k plus labor (perhaps another $1k), and the price has been coming down. And out of warranty replacements are RARE; about 1% for the older model (2003 and earlier), much less for 2004 and newer.

The other answerer is also wrong about the top FICO score. It’s not 750, it’s 850.

But on to your question: If you’re making $15,600 a year, you are going to have quite a challenge getting a loan for a $22,000 car, regardless of your credit score. Zero percent, five years…almost $400 a month out of your $1300. And probably another $100 a month (or more) for insurance. Nobody’s going to give you that 0% loan for 5 years, unless you are doing a large down payment (50%?) or you have no housing expenses (living with parents?)

Good luck…

Q: New Toyota Prius Let Your Love Flow?
Who sings it (in the commercial)
not the Bellamy Brothers

Thank You!

Q: That new Toyota Prius song.?
Ok there is a new commercial out, it looks kind of animated, it has flowers and a Prius driving down a road. Its a cute up-beat song. Does anyone know it?

A: The new 2010 Toyota Prius commercial “Harmony” is part of the “Harmony Between Man, Nature and Machine” campaign. http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/toyota-reveals-third-generation-91263.aspx

Q: When you buy a new Toyota Prius?
does it come with an Obama bumper sticker

A: That and my other car is a tree. Cause there tree huggers

Q: I have a new (used) 2005 Toyota Prius and the maintenance required light just came on. How do I turn it off?
I don’t want or need to take it to a dealer yet…the dealer I bought it from did the 15,000 mile maintenance 2,000 miles early to complete the sale to me. I just drove over 2,000 miles and the odometer is now at 14,767.

[page 122 owners manual]

“…
1. Press the ‘POWER’ switch to the “OFF” mode with the odometer reading shown.

2. Press ‘POWER’ switch twice to select the ‘IG-ON’ mode while holding down the trip meeter reset button. Hold down the button for at least 5 seconds. The Odometer indicates ‘000000′ and the light goes off.”

Q: When will the new Toyota Prius come out? ?
The 3rd generation is coming.

A: From what Toyota has released so far, the new designed Prius (which is what I am guessing is what you’re asking about) is the 2010 model which should be released around March of 2009 or so. They have not made any official announcements yet, but that is the latest that I’ve heard so far. It is supposed to be about 2in wider and Longer, larger inside, more power and better MPG.

Hope this helps.

For more information about buy Honda CR-V visit your top automotive resource AutoSlug.com

Q: What would it cost to supe-up a honda CR-V?
I have a 1997 Navy Blue Honda CR-V and its got 200,000 miles on it. Wondering about an estimate on how much a solid Tint would cost along with how much 20inch rims and possibly a new transmission would cost me?

A: it would cost your self respect. Why the heck are u pimping out an old honda? let alone a CRV! get the trans and call it a day dude. By the way 20’s may or may not fit, but its gonna feel like your car has no suspension and the tires are gonna wear fast.

Q: How much did you pay for your Honda CR-V EX-L? I want to know what a good price is.?
I am looking to get a 2007 Honda CR-V EX-L (with leather). They seem to be in high demand so the dealers in my area don’t seem to be offering much discount. I have been told $25,895. I saw some loss-leader deals for $24,000, but those are hard to get.

A: Those are about the same price figures that I’ve found. I too am shopping for a gas-miserly 4-cyl small SUV with AWD.. and I am THIS close to pulling the trigger on a Honda CRV!!

Hondas are Very high in demand, and it is near Impossible to find a “base” model Honda anything! Especially where I live.. most (if not All) the Honda models on the lot are Fully Loaded models with All the options. The (one) “teaser” model advertised in the paper has always been “Sold” to someone else!

Most important thing I can recommend is to find a reputable dealership and a referral to an Honest Saleperson/Sales Manager (oxymoron?).

Join one or some of the CRV-related Discussion Forums below, go to the “Prices Paid” section, and start talking REAL $ numbers, maybe even find prices/dealerships Local to your area, and possibly referrals to a good dealerships/salesmen..:

http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.ef11a94

http://www.crvownersclub.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=11

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=188

“Quote” prices are usually useless.. they’re low-balled.
Oftentimes when you get a simple price “quote” over the telephone, they will simply toss you the Lowest MSRP BASE price with NO Options!

When you finally “sit down” to do the paperwork.. the “surprise” items will often include:
$300+ cheesy factory-installed “alarm” system
$100+ floormats
$100+ factory-installed “bumper protectors”, body moldings, etc.
$495+ freight charge
$xxx other miscellaneous crap they try to tack on there!

Some of the nonsense like the “alarm” takes a few minutes to be Removed by the dealership! Other things like permanent “bumper protectors” and other installed hardware can NOT be removed! And so will most likely make it into the final price.

If you can, ask Owners what their Out-the-Door price was.
Remember while tallying up the price: (MSRP + installed options)
..that you *still* have to account for
~8% sales tax (varies by state)
~2% for DMV license and registration fees

so add ~10% to the figure for a pretty close estimate of your Out-the-Door price.

Also, if you can work out financing Beforehand.. ie with your own bank, credit union, etc.. that’ll take Financing right out of the “sales discussions”, and may simplify your purchase.
Although depending on dealership and your credit history.. some dealerships offer some Very Low Interest rates/incentives these days that can be tough to beat! So it depends.

It *may* help if you keep an eye out here..
http://www.edmunds.com/incentives/RebateController?step=1&setzip=92307&tid=edmunds.n.incentivesindex.incentives.1.1.*#honda
..shows current Honda incentives ..No CRV incentives listed now.. but this often changes.

Anyways.. good luck! And when you drive home in that new-smelling, shiny new CRV.. let us know how it drives! )

Q: What would be some good tires for a 99 Honda Cr-v?
I have a 1999 Honda CR-V with almost 100k on it. I am in need to new tires. I live in Minnesota so i deal with a lot of snow. I want some bigger tires, i want my cr-v to look more agressive.

THanks

A: go to

www.tirerack.com

you will find what your looking for

Q: How do i close the hood on a Honda CR-V?
I opened the hood of a 2010 Honda CR-V to check something. But now i can’t close it anymore. So can someone tell me how? Thanks

A: Slam it a little.. Not too hard.
Hope it helps!

Q: How is the Honda CR-V 2007 in snow?
I live in New England so I need a car that’s good in snow. I have to commute on a highway every morning and I want a winter-safe car. Hows the Honda CR-V 2007?
Any other suggestions?

A: Its usually not the car.. its the tires. Get some good winter tires and you’ll be set with a cr-v. Considering its an SUV it should perform better than most other vehicles considering it is heavier.

Q: Why do I have a large steal hook on the back of my Honda CR-V?
I own a 2002 Honda CR-V and yesterday when I went to look to see if I had somewhere to hitch a trailer to the back of it, all I saw was a large metal hook. What is the purpose of this? Can I still hook a trailer to it somehow?

A: The hook was used during the manufacturing process to move the car down the assembly line. No, you can not hook a trailer to it. You will need to install a trailer hitch. You can order them directly from Honda or find them on eBay or Craigslist. Good Luck.

Q: How do you replace the windshield wipers on a 2007 Honda CR-V?
I just recently bought a 2007 CR-V and was wondering how you replace the wiper blades?

A: the easiest way is to go to Walmart and get them to do it for you. It’s like $4.

Q: Is $ 21,335 MSRP a fair price for a Honda CR-V LX? If not, what should I negotiate down to?
I’m looking at purchasing a 2008 Honda CR-V LX and visited a dealership yesterday. Before all the add-ons (tinted windows, etc.), the MSRP is $21,335. Is this a fair price or can I get it cheaper? What should I negotiate for?

A: You can look at Edmunds (www.edmunds.com) or Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com) to get an idea of MRSP, dealer invoice and what they say people are paying for that vehicle in your area. But it all comes down to demand, availability, etc. One good place is to go to the dealers’ web-site in your area and get an on-line quote. The dealers seem to be very aggressive in their pricing if you use this method. Hope this helps.

Q: How many right turns does it take for a Honda CR-V’s tire cover to revolve 360 degrees?
Everyone knows that the older CR-V (2006 and previous) had a tire cover on the back. It seems to turn only when you make a right turn. How many times do you have to turn before it returns to it’s normal upright state?
Assume that you were able to consistantly take right hand turns at the same velocity and angle of attack. Assume all outside variables are constant in such a way that it would turn the same amount every time.

A: Okay, this is an odd question, and seems to be like asking “how many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop?”

You may never know. There will be different variables, such as the degree of the turn, the speed the turn was taken, and the incline of the vehicle itself. that’s to say the cover is even capable of rotating a full 360 degrees.

My suggestion…go drive a CRV and have someone follow you

Given the addition information, I’m going to assume it’ll rotate approximately 5 degrees per turn. Each turn being on flat ground, and a 90 degree turn at maybe 5mph which is typical from a stop sign. All I really need to now is how much it’ll rotate each turn, and with the estimate of 5 degrees, you’d be making 72 turns before it’s to the normal upright state.

Q: How do I replace the rubber hose for Honda CR-V?
Where can I find the large rubber hose that connects from the radiator to the engine for 1998 CR-V? When I feel it the inside is cracked and the only thing keeping it from leaking is the outer rubber.

And how do I remove it? There are two clips on each end that I can’t get off with my hands.

A: The hose your mentioning, is called a radiator hose. The clamps that your trying to get off by hand, is impossible. Will need special pliers for those clamps, or just pliers. The Radiator hose can be gotten from almost any autoparst store. Or even the dealership. Good luck.

Q: What’s your favorite color for the 07 Honda CR-V?
I am a college boy and I’m getting a all new 07 Honda CR-V. But I’m not sure what color is the best.

What do you think?

A: My neighbor has a green one. Its pretty sweet. Think green like the money you’ll be making after college.

Q: Is there a aftermarket trunk available for the 2nd gen Honda CR-V that does not have the spare tire on it?
I am considering the 2nd gen cr-v for my first car, but if i bought it i would want to remove the spare tire fro the trunk so i can parallel park easier. Is there an aftermarket trunk somewhere that does not have the spare tire on it?

A: Doubt it anyway you could have the spare and fittings removed.

Q: does the honda cr-v make a good first car for a 17 year old girl?
i have decided that i want an suv and i thought the honda cr-v was kinda cute so i was wondering if it made a good first car. and what other cars would you suggest for a first car?

A: Yes its a good first car for you. Its one of the best SUV in its class. Good styling both interior and exterior, good engine and high re sale value too. You can choose among the sub compact SUV in the market like Kia Sportage, Toyota Rav4, Hyundai Tucson, Ford Escape, Nissan X trail and Mitsubishi outlander. All of this sub compact SUV are good in its own way and are all reliable. Hope this help!

Q: What size camper can a Honda CR-V tow?
I’ve read that a 1st generation (1997-2001) Honda CR-V is rated to tow up to 2,000 pounds if what is being towed has separate brakes.

How big of a camper is 2,000 pounds? Are only pop-up tent campers under that weight? Have you ever towed a regular camper with a CR-V, maybe even one weighing more than 2,000 pounds?

Thanks!

A: I wouldn’t suggest towing anything with a CR-V but a pop up tent camper. The tow capacity is only 1,500 pounds.

Q: Anybody done comparsions between Nissan Rogue & Honda CR-V?
If so which one do you think is the better vehicle?
My money is on the CR-V although the Rogue looks good and has some nice features.
Honda has the quality, durability and time tested experience.

A: The CR-V is the vehicle that everyone wants to be in terms of styling, economy and reliability. Its the gold standard in the compact SUV category.

The Nissan Rogue is new; has a flashy ad campaign and is a hot product now. Nissan doesn’t have the greatest reputation for reliability or resale value compared to Honda and Toyota. Plus, Nissan has had a lot of recalls recently on their trucks.

The Rogue is too new to have any data on costs of ownership and dependability.

You can do some research at the J.D. Power website that might help you out.

www.jdpower.com

Personally, I’d go with the CR-V

Q: Is Cummins putting a motor in the new jeeps?
Is Cummins putting a motor in the new jeeps?

A: No it is a Mercedes-Benz Common Rail Diesel engine.

Q: How good are the aftermarket bikini tops for the new jeeps?
Just bought an 08 Jeep Wrangler 4 door. They are about half the price.

A: Depends on the manufacturer, some, like the Bestop brand are consistently high quality (they make them for Jeep OEM) and the other more “bargain” brands can be out right junk.

Stick with quality like Bestop and you won’t be disappointed.

Q: What is the song from the new Jeep commercial? It’s the one with the Jeeps driving in the dunes.?
The Jeeps are driving around in the dunes, there are over-sized sand toys as well.

A: If it’s the one that I’m think of it’s “Still Having Fun” by Orleans.

Q: Does anyone have details about the car alarm system that comes with the new Jeeps?
Picking up my Jeep Wednesday. The 2008 Wranger Rubicon Unlimited comes with a Sentury key and a car alarm, but so far, I can’t find any info on the car alarm like when it is activated, or if it is motion sensitive, etc.

What is the alarm system? Do I need to add additional alarm features for added security? I’m considering a motion sensor … LoJack.

(Already getting the dealership to install a hood lock, wheel locks and locking gas cap.)

A: The alarm activates when u lock the car with ur keyless entry and deactivates when its unlocked. You prob dont need anything extra froa dded seccurtiy becuase if they break a window and open the door from inside the alarm will sound. And if they try to start the car while the alarm is still activated the alarm will sound. Lo Jack is also a good thing to get even if you have a great alarm system.

Q: how many new jeeps have been sold in 2007 in the usa?
by model would be helpful as well – and if there is data for the last 5 years (2003-2007) that would be excellent as well.

A: Here is a start. If you need all of the models, there are sites for all of this.
Good Luck

http://www.wjjeeps.com/production.htm

Q: How reliable are the new jeeps?
Mostly I am looking into the 2008 libertys..I got mixed reviews on edmunds..and most are good but just want more?

A: for a cheezee JEEP they are ok. Since you probably won’t off road it. Some come “trail ready” but most are for the city and highway use.

Q: Hey are there like optional security systems for the new 2008 jeeps (unlimited possibly)?
Like i have never had a jeep wrangler and i thought it woudl be fun to drive with the top off in the summer, but i was wondering if they had anything that like could keep other people from just opening your hood and taking everything, or like pouring crap into your gas tank. Because i noticed these are way easily accessible, and this is the only thing holding me back from getting one because there are a lot of jerks in my neighborhood. But anyways are there things dealers/mechanics can add onto it?

A: The JK’s (Wrangler Unlimited) have a security system already with the coded key system and as well if the alarm is enabled and a door is opened up, it will set the alarm off. However, If you go topless and doorless, there really is not much besides an aftermarket sensor alarm.

I have not had an issue with break-in’s or people tossing drinks into my JK while I park it overnight. A way to have people walk away from your vehicle is to LEAVE NOTHING VISIBLE in your jeep. Every night I empty out my glove box and center console and leave them open to show that there is NOTHING to steal.

Also, I do have a Bikini Top that goes over the 4 doors and a tonneau cover in the back compartment to add some protection from people spitting or throwing a slurpee or pop can into the back of my jeep. However, that is why Jeep has placed in the YES material that is water & stain resistent.

Like the person above stated you can get a locking gas cap from the dealer when you order your JK. If you do get a JK and you are worried about break in’s order the Freedom top (Hard top) or order the Dual top (soft & hard top). The hard top will provide more security with the glass windows and it is fairly easy to remove with 2 people and store if you want to go topless. However, I would recommend you have a good storage area for the hardtop say a garage or carport.

Also, if you get a JK, get a low insurance deductible….this way if something does get trashed or wrecked…..let insurance deal with the issues. If you are going to constantly worry about someone doing something to your JK….then a Wrangler is not for you.

Q: What Jeep dealership sells the most new Jeeps in the USA?

A: I work at the 2nd largest Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge dealer in the country. The number one volume dealer is in Utah.

Q: are there any other people having transmission troubles i new jeeps?
my jk is shifting really hard between 2nd and 3rd

A: Sounds like the making of a recall on the “newer, better” Jeep!

Q: What is the diffeance between a new 2008 Jeep Wrangler and an old-school Jeep Wrangler.?
I heard this person say say that the new Jeep Wranglers were “Jeep Corporation Vehicles, but not real Jeeps.”
When I say old school Wrangler, i should also mention that I am refering to CJ’s and stuff like that too.

A: The 2008 have a V-6 and ride much better then a CJ or even the older Wranglers. There is nothing wrong with the new Wranglers,I have a CJ and have gone 4 wheelin with people that own a 07 Wrangler and they went everywhere I did with no problems.Jeep Corporation has been dissolved since 1987 so I don’t know what they would be talking about.A Jeep is a Jeep no matter if Willys,Ford,Jeep Corp,AMC Jeep,Chrysler,DamlerChrysler or Chrysler LLC made it.

Q: New Jeeps vs the old Cherokee?
Of all the cars I’ve owned, my beat-up old Jeep Cherokee was the only one I had any real affection for. I loved that thing. It eventually died, and I haven’t gotten another 4WD since. I’m thinking about it now, and I’m torn between one of the several new Jeep models, vs getting a good used Cherokee and upgrading it with newer parts. I loved the solid axles, rugged suspension, and very reliable I-6 engine in the Cherokee, as well as the compact size. Is there a new model that can compare?

A: In my opinion if you had the money the Commander (V8)would be the way to go or possibly a Wrangler Unlimited… I am not a fan of teh V6 but there isnt enough data to say they are POS’s yet,, only hearsay and biased assumptions… I would like teh last year Cherokee 2dr, 5spd and 4wd… it would be a rare bird.. I currently drive a 78 cherokee chief w/ 401ci daily minus teh 8 mpg it is carefree. It did take some money to get it to its perfectly purring no oil burning/leaking state but it was well worth it….

Q: I have a new Jeep 07 wrangler sahara and i want to make it a good off road car what would be the best upgrade?
I want to make it into a really solid vehicle off road but still be nice driving around town. I have no idea about jeeps and i am new to off roading.

A: check out quadratec.com they have alot of awesome parts. they also have parts advisors (lift kit advisor, soft top advisor) to help you pick the right parts and the ones you want. they quicly narrow down what is right for you.
Happy Jeeping!

Q: What are people paying for a new jeep grand cherokee laredo or limited?
Looking at buying a new vehicle and would like to get an idea of what people are actually paying for new jeeps

A: 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

MSRP Price Range:$29,420 – $43,290
Invoice Price Range:$27,009 – $39,388

The Grand Cherokee features sound handling and a good ride. The base engine is a lackluster 3.7-liter V6, and a powerful 5.7-liter Hemi V8 is also available. The best choice is the 4.7-liter V8, which received updates for 2008 and is now punchier, more refined, and more fuel efficient. Fit and finish isn’t on par with its competitors, and rear-seat comfort is just so-so. ESC and curtain air bags are both standard.

” Reliability has been well below average”

Q: New Jeeps V.S. Old Jeeps (Handling, off-road ability, mpg, space etc.)?
What are the main differences between Older Jeeps and some of the Newer Models? I’m interested in purchasing a jeep and just want a little more information before i do. I’ve seen many different models and ages of jeeps, but don’t really know much about them. What are the main differences in:
Handling?
Off-Road Ability?
MPG?
Space in the interior?
And anything else you feel is interesting.(to a limit)
Thanks very much.

A: How “old” is “old” to you ?

We’ve had a 1948 Jeep in the family since I was a kid.

Handling?
- ok, but it’s not really meant as a daily driver at higher speeds

Off-Road Ability?
- Absolutely amazing

MPG?
- ~20 [4-cylinder flathead engine, not a fast vehicle]

Space in the interior?
- not much, but you can clean it out with a garden hose

However, parts are getting harder to find, etc….and people like to steal them!

Q: Are the new (JK) Jeeps really better than the old (TJ) Jeeps.?
It looks to me the engine is only slightly more powerful and the new JKs are heavier.

A: People have been complaining that the “new model” Jeep isn’t true to what Jeep is for years (I’m talking about the Wrangler/CJ style Jeeps not these crappy mini-ute’s their building now). People probably complained when a roll bar and hard top was made available. I know they complained about the square headlights on the YJ and people bitched about the TJ because it abandoned the leaf springs for 4 wheel coil suspension. The JK is very much staying true to what Jeep is. The JK is easily just as capable as the TJ and it’s light years beyond CJ’s and YJ’s (stock vs stock). I agree that the 4.0 was a great engine, but from what I gather, the JK will be seeing some different options in the future. And anyone who thinks that electronic sway-bar disconnect is the only thing the JK (Rubi only btw) has over the TJ really has no clue what Jeep is all about anyway. The JK (and TJ) Rubicon’s are by far one of if not the most capable stock 4×4 vehicles on the road today. Not to mention THE MOST capable vehicles Jeep has ever built. I love em both.
