Q: About the new Toyota Prius?
Were about to buy a new car, and i was thinking to get the all new Toyota prius. But I live in a mountainous region here in the Philippines where we have almost 50 degrees slopes on our roads. Will the Prius run on our steep roads? Also, any other cars that you guys can recommend? Our budget is from $25,000-30,000
looking for a brand new car around that budget, any car with good fuel consumption is fine

A: It can run on the roads, but it just won’t get as good gas mileage. What kind of car are you looking for?

Q: what are the songs in the new toyota prius commercials?
The commercials are where all the objects are people wavin their arms and stuff

A: The new 2010 Toyota Prius commercial “Harmony” is part of the “Harmony Between Man, Nature and Machine” campaign, developed with their advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi LA. http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/toyota-reveals-third-generation-91263.aspx

Q: what’s a reasonable price for a new toyota prius?
Should I buy 2008 toyota prius or 2009 …..what should I watch out for???, are there better hybrids at a more reasonable price? …any advice will do..thanks.

A: The 2008 and 2009 Prius are identical. Both are second-generation Prii, which was first introduced in 2004.

The 2010 Prius will go on sale in mid-2009, and it is the 3rd-generation redesign.

MSRP starts at $22,000 for the base package for the 2009, and it goes up from there, how much depending on the trim package you want. If you can haggle to a couple hundred dollars under MSRP for that particular package, you got a good deal.

The Prius is currently the most inexpensive hybrid, costs slightly less than the Honda Civic Hybrid. Honda is coming out next year with their Prius-lookalike 2010 Insight, which will cost $3000 less than the Prius.

The 2nd-generation Prius is a pretty big car (classified as a Midsize car by the EPA, not a compact), and the battery pack does not take up ANY space in the cabin. And because of that, you can fold down the Prius rear seats and have a continuous flat-bed trunk space 6 feet long. 116hp with sensible performance. Ask someone you know who owns one to show you the car so you can see for yourself. That would be much more informative than the drivel on Yahoo Answers from people who know nothing about the car.

Q: Would you buy the new 2010 Toyota Prius in it’s 3rd generation?
Is this a good car? What are the list of improvements?

A: I will probably never buy a Prius. The energy and chemicals used to produce and manufacture the batteries are more harmful to the environment than a regular gas car. Over the life span of a Prius and say, a Corolla, the Prius has a larger carbon footprint.

Q: where can I buy brand new Toyota Prius 2009? I live in Los Angeles!?
Dealers around where I live don’t have any 09 in their stocks.

A: You might not be able to get one.

Most dealers are getting in the 2010 models now.

If you are dead set on getting an ‘09 they might have to get one from a different Dealership and have it sent to them. They do this buy buying it from them, or trading their cars for it etc.

They usually don’t want you going to the other dealer to get it.

There might not be any left in California. You might have to go out of state to get an ‘09.

Have you looked into getting a 2010?

*****

Using the Toyota website will search around you for Dealers who have the Car with the options you’ve selected.

They don’t ship to a dealer the way you want.

IF they are still making them on the assembly line. You might be able to get the Dealer to order one the way you want if you put a sizeable non-refundable deposit down or pay for it outright.

Dealers buy and own the Cars. Toyota does not just give them to them. So if you build a car, they send it, and you don’t want it. Then the Dealer has to sell that car and that might be hard depending on what options you choose.

So sadly, the G35 guy is wrong.

Q: Can you recommend a good Los Angeles window tinting shop for my brand new Magnetic Gray Toyota Prius?
I’d also like to get an alarm put on her and I know that some places do both. I just want to be sure that both services are top notch. Thanks.

A: You may want to ask a more local Prius owners’ group:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Bay_Area_Prius_fans/
It’s really more CA-wide than just the Bay Area, though.

Other places where you may get some recommendations:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/toyota-prius/
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Prius-2G/
http://www.priusonline.com/

http://www.priuschat.com/

You really want to go with the factory alarm, rather than some aftermarket thing. Some aftermarket alarms do not play nicely with the Prius’ electronics.

All North American NHW20 Prius actually have the alarm (lights blink and horn beeps if a door/hood is opened while armed), just that the alarm is only turned on/accessable in certain option packages (it’s a software thing). Some people have been able to get a dealer tech (who would have the necessary Toyota handheld tester needed to change the software parameter) to turn it on for free, or for just the labor charge, when asked nicely… Otherwise, you may have to get the RS3200 VIP “upgrade” which is basically the additional glass breakage sensor (microphone tuned to the sound of breaking glass, sets off the alarm) plus the tester instructions for turning the alarm on. Call around to different dealers and ask for pricing.

While you’re calling the dealers for the alarm pricing, also ask them who they recommend for window tinting, and their pricing.

Q: Can I get a US Federal income tax credit if I buy a new Toyota Prius now?

A: Unfortunately, no.

The Federal Tax Credit for all Toyota hybrids expired in September 2007, so you will no longer get a tax credit from the IRS for buying the Prius.

There are two hybrid cars out there with the same type of drivetrain as the Prius that still qualifies for Federal tax credits though:

- 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid 2WD, which qualifies for $3000.

- 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid, which qualifies for $2350.

They use the same Power Split Device transmission as the Prius but with bigger engines (you can say they are Priuses on sterioids). So those would be the ones I would consider if you are looking for a nice tax credit to help you buy the car.

Hope this helps.

Q: How much will the new 2010 Toyota Prius go for?

A: They haven’t announced the MSRP for the 2010 Prius yet, but expect it to start a bit above what the 2009 went for. The 2009 started at $22,000.

Q: When does the new Toyota Prius come out?

A: The redesigned 2010 Prius came out some time around May of this year. It switched from the 1.5L gas engine to the 1.8L gas engine and improved fuel economy and power. The 2010 EPA rating is 51 city 48 highway for a combined 50 rating.

The 2010 Prius also has more interior space (leg room, shoulder room) and has a better ride than the previous model. Toyota is still using the Nickel-Metal Hydride battery and we will not see the Lithium ion battery in production vehicle’s for a few years yet.

I hope this information is helpful!

Q: Buying a New Toyota Prius?
I have wanted a Toyota Prius for so long and now I’m actually thinking on buying one. I’m interested in getting a 2009, I like the style better than 2010. I’m interested in buying it from a dealership that has 0% interest for five years. I make about $1,300 a month a have a FICO score of 786. Do you think they would finance me with those numbers? Thanks

A: As usual the other answer you’ve received is from someone that knows zero about Prius. The batteries have a full factory warranty for 8 or 10 years (depends on what state you buy it in) so they don’t need to be replaced anywhere near as often as “every 5 years.” (Toyota’s warranty department would be going broke if that were true.) And they aren’t polluting anyway — Toyota pays a $200 bounty to get old Prius batteries back to ensure they get recycled. And they don’t cost $5k to replace; they’re down to $3k plus labor (perhaps another $1k), and the price has been coming down. And out of warranty replacements are RARE; about 1% for the older model (2003 and earlier), much less for 2004 and newer.

The other answerer is also wrong about the top FICO score. It’s not 750, it’s 850.

But on to your question: If you’re making $15,600 a year, you are going to have quite a challenge getting a loan for a $22,000 car, regardless of your credit score. Zero percent, five years…almost $400 a month out of your $1300. And probably another $100 a month (or more) for insurance. Nobody’s going to give you that 0% loan for 5 years, unless you are doing a large down payment (50%?) or you have no housing expenses (living with parents?)

Good luck…

Q: New Toyota Prius Let Your Love Flow?
Who sings it (in the commercial)
not the Bellamy Brothers

Thank You!

Q: That new Toyota Prius song.?
Ok there is a new commercial out, it looks kind of animated, it has flowers and a Prius driving down a road. Its a cute up-beat song. Does anyone know it?

Q: When you buy a new Toyota Prius?
does it come with an Obama bumper sticker

A: That and my other car is a tree. Cause there tree huggers

Q: I have a new (used) 2005 Toyota Prius and the maintenance required light just came on. How do I turn it off?
I don’t want or need to take it to a dealer yet…the dealer I bought it from did the 15,000 mile maintenance 2,000 miles early to complete the sale to me. I just drove over 2,000 miles and the odometer is now at 14,767.

A: “PriusChat.com Forum Index -> Care, Maintenance & Troubleshooting”

http://priuschat.com/forums/archive/o_t/t_11010/maintence-required-light.html

[page 122 owners manual]

“…
1. Press the ‘POWER’ switch to the “OFF” mode with the odometer reading shown.

2. Press ‘POWER’ switch twice to select the ‘IG-ON’ mode while holding down the trip meeter reset button. Hold down the button for at least 5 seconds. The Odometer indicates ‘000000′ and the light goes off.”

Q: When will the new Toyota Prius come out? ?
The 3rd generation is coming.

A: From what Toyota has released so far, the new designed Prius (which is what I am guessing is what you’re asking about) is the 2010 model which should be released around March of 2009 or so. They have not made any official announcements yet, but that is the latest that I’ve heard so far. It is supposed to be about 2in wider and Longer, larger inside, more power and better MPG.

Hope this helps.
